Why we built The Great Enabler.

In the trailer, Sourcefin’s Josh Kadish and Jedd Harris share the thinking behind the show. After three years of building Sourcefin from a few people hustling into an award-winning funder, they wanted a place to pass on what they – and the people around them – have learned the hard way.

The idea is simple: take businesses, SMMEs and individuals from where they are to where they are going, and make that journey a little easier. To enable someone is to give them the tools, knowledge and wisdom to reach the next level – and to let that wisdom ripple outward, one conversation at a time.

What is The Great Enabler Podcast?

The Great Enabler is a long-form South African business podcast, powered by Sourcefin. It helps serious SMME builders move from survival thinking to strategic, values-led growth by giving them access to the lived wisdom, mental models and real trade-offs of people who have already walked the road.

It is not shallow motivation and it is not a sales pitch. Every conversation is meant to help you think better, act better and build better – the kind of talk that usually happens behind closed doors, in boardrooms, founder circles and mentorship sessions.

Why the podcast exists

Many SMMEs don’t only need funding. They need wisdom.

Most builders are doing it under pressure and often in isolation – responsible for families and staff, managing cash flow, learning compliance, chasing contracts and making big decisions without always having someone who has done it before. Sourcefin saw that enabling the forgotten SMME could not stop at capital.

Sourcefin enables through

Fit-for-purpose funding

Purchase order funding, invoice discounting and tender funding that meets a real business need – future-focused, partnership-led, and built around the opportunity in front of you.

The Great Enabler enables through

Fit-for-purpose wisdom

Honest conversations about mistakes and trade-offs, plain-English lessons on tenders, cash flow and compliance, and the reassurance that the pressure you feel is normal.

We can’t always lend, but we must always enable.

The story of the calabash

A bowl, a circle, and wisdom worth passing on.

When we think of the calabash, we think of a bowl – and of people sitting in a circle, traditionally African, sharing stories, proverbs and hard-won wisdom. It is the vessel that holds the wisdom of a conversation, carried and passed from one person to the next.

That is the heart of the show: passing around the calabash of wisdom, from those who have built to those still building. We close every episode with the Calabash of Wisdom – the one lesson a guest most wants the next builder to carry forward.

The mark

Every element of the logo tells the story.

The logo is not just decorative. It is a visual map of the whole idea – wisdom gathered, nourished, sparked, spoken and shared.

The calabash

The foundational symbol – community, gathering, generosity and wisdom passed between people. The vessel that holds the conversation.

The sun

Nourishment, energy and growth. Wisdom and opportunity create the conditions for businesses to grow – the show shines light on ideas and journeys.

Trees & proteas

Rooted, resilient, proudly South African growth. Like trees, businesses need strong roots, time and the right environment to thrive.

The light-bulb

Insight and the moment of understanding – the light-bulb moments that happen when the right wisdom is shared in the right environment.

Speech bubbles

This is a conversation, not a lecture. Wisdom is drawn out through dialogue – questions, listening, storytelling and shared ideas.

The microphone

Broadcast and amplification. Private wisdom does not stay in the room – it is captured and shared with a wider audience.

Put together, the mark shows the journey from wisdom, to conversation, to inspiration, to enablement at scale – powered by Sourcefin, with an identity of its own.

In their words

On conversations, mentorship and the ripple effect.

I’m carrying things from six, seven years ago that my mentor taught me – hardcoded into what I do every single day. I’m hoping you can take those things and translate them into your every day.

JHJedd HarrisCSO, Sourcefin

The three stages of life: the learn, the earn and the return. If we do our jobs right as hosts, we can extract that mentorship and pass it on to as many people as possible.

JHJedd HarrisCSO, Sourcefin

I want every listener to feel like they’re sitting here with us – having a coffee, having a beer – getting the chance to talk to someone they’d never otherwise be able to speak to.

JKJosh KadishCEO, Sourcefin

We might share wisdom with one person, and someone who’s never even heard of the show receives it from a conversation they had. There’s an exponential increase of value.
