Funding that takes you from opportunity to delivery

You have won the work. Through a referral arrangement with FNB, more SMEs can access Purchase Order Financing (POF) from Sourcefin – the working capital to deliver a confirmed order before your customer pays.

How does purchase order financing through FNB work?

FNB does not fund purchase orders itself. Through a referral arrangement, FNB can refer eligible business clients to Sourcefin, the specialist funder, for Purchase Order Financing (POF). Sourcefin assesses your confirmed order, funds the supplier directly so you can deliver, and is repaid once your customer pays. FNB brings trusted banking reach, and Sourcefin makes all funding decisions.

Sourcefin has deployed more than R3 billion to South African SMEs and is the NSBC Funder of the Year 2026. Many businesses win the work before they have the working capital to deliver it – that gap between opportunity and delivery is exactly what Purchase Order Financing closes, so more businesses can deliver on what they win.

How the referral arrangement works

Three steps, one clear path

Step 1 · FNB refers

Speak to your banker

Talk to your FNB relationship manager or business banker. Where it fits, they can refer your business to Sourcefin for consideration for Purchase Order Financing.

Step 2 · Sourcefin assesses

We validate and assess

Sourcefin validates the purchase order, vets the parties involved and independently assesses the application, including its own fraud checks.

Step 3 · Sourcefin funds

We fund the delivery

If approved, Sourcefin funds the supply side of your confirmed order so you can deliver. Your customer pays, Sourcefin is repaid, and you keep your profit.

A referral does not guarantee funding. FNB does not assess, approve or fund applications – all assessments and decisions to offer Purchase Order Financing are made solely by Sourcefin, in line with its own credit and risk processes.

Who it is for

Is your business a fit?

Purchase Order Financing through the referral arrangement is designed for established FNB business clients, particularly SMEs, delivering against confirmed work across both private and public sector supply chains.

This is a fit if

  • You hold a confirmed purchase order or tender, typically R250 000 or more in value
  • You have an identified supplier who can fulfil the order
  • Your customer is creditworthy and can pay on agreed terms
  • You can demonstrate the ability to deliver, even with limited balance sheet support

Grow beyond your balance sheet

Purchase Order Financing is available even with limited balance sheet support, where you can demonstrate the ability to deliver. Funding is sized to the opportunity in front of your business, not only its trading history – so a strong order need not stall for lack of working capital.

Sectors we commonly fund

  • Construction
  • Manufacturing
  • ICT
  • Logistics
  • Maintenance
  • Cleaning services
  • Public sector contracts

We consider any sector with confirmed work – these are simply the ones we fund most often.

Not an FNB business client? You can still apply to Sourcefin directly – start your application below.

Questions, answered

FNB and Sourcefin: your questions answered.

Does FNB offer purchase order funding?
FNB does not fund purchase orders itself. Through a referral arrangement, FNB can refer eligible business clients to Sourcefin, a specialist funder. Sourcefin provides Purchase Order Financing (POF): it pays your supplier directly against a confirmed order so you can deliver, then is repaid when your customer pays. It combines FNB’s trusted banking reach with Sourcefin’s dedicated purchase order funding.
How do I get purchase order funding through FNB?
Speak to your FNB relationship manager or business banker, who can refer you to Sourcefin, or apply on this page. Sourcefin assesses your confirmed order and funds the supplier so you can deliver – often a term sheet within 24 to 48 hours, on deals from R250 000 upward. It is structured as trade finance, not a loan.
What is the difference between an overdraft and purchase order funding?
An overdraft draws on your own credit and balance sheet. Purchase order funding is provided against a confirmed order – the funder settles your supplier so you can deliver work you have already won. It is built for a different purpose, letting you take on orders larger than your cash on hand.
Who qualifies for purchase order funding through FNB and Sourcefin?
It is designed for established FNB business clients, particularly SMEs, with a confirmed purchase order or tender typically R250 000 or more in value. Sectors we commonly fund include construction, manufacturing, ICT, logistics, maintenance, cleaning services and public sector contracts – though we consider any sector with confirmed work. It is available even with limited balance sheet support, where you can demonstrate the ability to deliver.
Does a referral from FNB guarantee funding?
No. A referral does not guarantee that funding will be offered. FNB does not assess, approve or fund applications. All assessments and decisions to offer Purchase Order Financing are made solely by Sourcefin, in line with its own credit and risk processes.
Can I get purchase order funding from Sourcefin if I do not bank with FNB?
Yes. Purchase Order Financing is offered to FNB business clients through the referral arrangement, and SMEs that do not bank with FNB can still apply to Sourcefin directly using the application on this page.
