Sourcefin empowers young artists at the Pieces of Our Dream Art Exhibition

Supporting Dreams and Building Sustainable Art Communities

At Sourcefin, we believe that true empowerment is about more than just providing financial support; it’s about nurturing a foundation that lifts up voices, especially those often unheard and forgotten. We recently had the opportunity to bring this belief to life as one of the sponsors, alongside industry leaders like Anglo American, of the Pieces of our Dream Art Exhibition running in Rosebank, Johannesburg from the 1 November to the 14 November. This extraordinary showcase organised by Ojiji and Little Artists aims to bring art, dreams, empowerment and purpose together.

Our journey with Ojiji began when we decided to fill our Sourcefin offices with art that wasn’t just beautiful but carried a story, a face, and a mission. We wanted to bring pieces that symbolised empowerment and resilience, values that Sourcefin holds dear while ensuring that the investment in the art empowered more than just the artist. Ojiji and Little Artists aligned perfectly with this vision, creating art that embodies hope and the power of transformation.

About Little Artists and Ojiji: A Journey of Resilience and Creativity

Little Artists, founded in 1995, is more than an art program; it’s a social movement that uses art as a lifeline for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Many of these young artists come from welfare or orphanage systems, where life’s hardships often cast shadows over their dreams. Through Little Artists, these children are given a safe space to explore their creativity, express their emotions, heal and dream beyond their current circumstances. Trained in various art forms, they learn to navigate their challenges, transforming them into beautiful, powerful creations that carry their stories. And by selling their artwork, these children earn income that helps uplift their lives, while a portion of proceeds goes back to sustaining the organisation’s work, ensuring that more young children also have the chance to embrace art as a pathway to enablement.

The Pieces of Our Dream exhibition embodies this journey. Through this project, 25 children were invited to dream boldly and visualise their aspirations through art. Guided by Ojiji’s talented professional artists, these dreams were transformed into collaborative masterpieces, each one a testament to the resilience and potential within these young creators. The children’s voices are present in every stroke, every colour, and every piece on display—an uplifting reminder that, no matter the background, everyone has a voice worth hearing and a dream worth pursuing.

Creating Sustainable Change Through Art and SMME Funding

Sourcefin’s involvement in this project is deeply personal for us, as it mirrors our mission to empower the forgotten SMMEs. Just as we provide financial resources and end-to-end business support to empower businesses to thrive, we are committed to supporting young artists in shaping their own futures, creating sustainable change that ripples through communities. Sourcefin looks forward to continuing this journey, helping Ojiji and Little Artists grow and realising the dreams of the next generation.

Join us in supporting these creative future artists as they share their beautiful visions and dreams with us. The Pieces of our Dream art exhibition is running since the 1 November until the 14 November at 21 Keyes Avenue in Rosebank, Johannesburg.
